The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 18. Meeting highlights included:

Reports and Presentations

Discussion and Action Items

  • The Board of Education approved the second round of applications for membership on Board Advisory Committees. First-round applications were approved at the September 20 meeting. Applicants were assigned based on priorities and openings to membership on each committee. The District will continue to recruit for remaining open positions.
  • In October of last year, the Board of Education was presented with information related to potential remaining land sale proceeds and the amount set-aside in Fund 40 for facility needs (“Facility Needs Funds”). Part of that discussion involved generating a list of potential facility related projects, in priority order, for use of these available funds. That list is named the Current Facility Needs List.

    The Board was presented with an updated Current Facility Needs List approved recommendations for use of the Facility Needs Funds. With approval, the District will move forward with feasibility studies, project design, and bidding the projects, and will come back to the Board to award bids for construction. Projects include:

    Pepper Drive – renovate and expand kitchen
    Cajon Park – grass play field for primary
    Cajon Park – irrigation water well
    PRIDE Academy – grass play field for lower field
    PRIDE Academy – irrigation water well
    Sycamore Canyon – grass play field for area in back of LRC

Board Policies and Bylaws

  • A first hearing was held for New Board Policy (BP) 1313 – Civility. The policy addresses the importance of civility to the effective operation of the district, including its role in creating a positive school climate and enabling a focus on student well-being, learning, and achievement. The policy can be viewed in the Board Meeting Packet.

The next meeting of the Santee School District Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca, Santee.
